Q. Why does Lea & Perrins® Worcestershire sauce
have a brown paper wrapper?
A. When Lea & Perrins® first
started exporting Worcestershire sauce around the world, it was found that some
of the bottles would break during the lengthy sea voyage. A practice of
wrapping each bottle individually in a paper wrapper was devised to protect the
bottles and prevent breakage. The practice of wrapping bottles, although no
longer technically necessary, has endured. The distinctive paper wrapper with
Lea & Perrins® branding printed on the front is a recognized symbol that
reassures customers they’re purchasing the 'original and genuine' product.

Q. Do you make a vegetarian version of
Worcestershire Sauce?
A. No. Lea & Perrins®
Worcestershire Sauce is made to the original recipe created in 1837 and
contains anchovies - a type of fish. We believe that altering the recipe to
exclude a key ingredient such as anchovies would mean that Lea & Perrins®
would no longer be the 'original and genuine' Worcestershire Sauce, as claimed
on the bottle.

Q. Why does the Lea & Perrins® label go right
around the bottle, obscuring the level remaining?
A. The label, like the product, is
kept as close as possible to its original design. This continues the tradition
of 'The Original and Genuine Lea & Perrins® Worcestershire Sauce'.
